Teacher
:”Why didn’t you do your assignment?”
Student:”Loadshading
sir!”
Such
conversation between teacher and student are most likely to happen in the
present context of Nepal. The regional disparity between the people is being
wider and wider. A country having 70% of people involved in the agriculture is
having people compelled to die of hunger. The intellectual and well educated
people whose mind is sharpen and well nourished by the best air and water of
the world are abandoning the nation.
Bomb blast, murder, robbery, rape cases are increasing. Most of the officials
(either from government organizations’ or from different NGOs’) are corrupted.
The country which was meant to be counted among the richest and most developed
nations in the world as it is gifted by nature is now apparently entering into
the typhoons’ of Energy Crisis followed by unemployment , then civil war and
henc the future full of sorrows and regretion .
Lets
concentrate on the burning problems that we are facing .
1.
Energy
Crisis :Nepal, capable of producing about 40 thousands MW of hydropower
practically is facing a daily 14 hrs power cut failing to fulfill a demand of
about 900 MW of power. Other source of energy such as wind ,biogas, solar power
are almost produced in a negligible amount. There is not only the problem in
electricity supply , Nepalese are compelled to carry the burden of crisis on
Petroleum products(petrol, diesel, kerosene, LPG ) .
2.
Education
Crisis: The government educational are said to be quality less and unmanaged by
no other people but those parents who are having their children to send to the
school. And because of the careless behavior of the Education department of the
government many of the private sectors with unfair business policy are given
authority to run bonebreaking (costly) educational institutes across the
country.
3.
Demolition
of industries: Because of consistency in the energy crisis and unwise politics
in the industrial sectors followed no proper handling of the products in the
market industries are in a position to get extinct from Nepali land. Because of
this almost all the things for living the normal life are increasingly being
imported from nearby countries. The Nepalese wealth goes outside the country
because of it.
4.
Unemployment:
The youth if dared to stay in the land , they are likely to be compelled to
join the “melancholy band of lost spirits” i.e. the unemployed gang. So almost
all Youth have two options . Either to leave the land and settle in abroad or
to remain in the land being unemployed. It is certain that they will try to
earn the money by hook or crook in order to live. This is the cause of
increasing criminal activities in each and every sector of the country.
5.
Child
labour: This is highly linked with all those problems mentioned. The youth
(intellectual and skilled) when are compelled to abandon the country small children are left
back in the country with the elderly people. At the time when they are meant to
go the school they are compelled to work for themselves and their poor families
survival. Most of such kind of children are likely to get involved in bad
sectors in their future.
6.
Politics:
“ I hate politics” . Most of the people
with whom I’m in contact say those words. I do believe that many of the
Nepalese also say so. So what is the reason behind such hatred of people in the
field of politics. Certainly , the answer is likely to be “the leaders of our
country”. The assembly which was elected and supposed to give new constitution
to the nation within two years of time is still sucking the blood of the nation
when we are at the phase of ending of five years from the time of election. Keep in mind to the things that are leaders are meant to do
at this time and then listen/see the news. The only thing they are trying to
get is the chair which gives them more power to earn black money and the
worthless and hollow pride. It is quite obvious that such unresponsive
activities of the politicians affects all the sectors in the country and
finally the reason of unstability.
These are roughly
some of the problems that we are facing in the present context. And do you know
who is the master mind behind all these problems of the country. The person
responsible for such country is you and I. Yes, the people for the destruction
of the country aren’t imported from other countries. They are being
manufactured in our own society . We
cannot blame that politicians or other people are not doing their job well.
They are among us. First drink a glass of cold water and question yourself
,”What am I doing?”. We are actually corrupting the people in the responsible
post and being ourselves corrupted. Nobody wishes to stop his/her brother/son/father
when he is earning a lot of money though he is earning
by wrong means. So if you want to change the world(other people) start from
yourself. We might be a student (like me) , a teacher, a businessman, a
politician, an industrialist, a mechanic, a bus driver or his helper, a media
person, a farmer ,a cobbler, a person working as a labor , any person from different technical or non-technical
field or we can be from the melancholy band of lost spirits as I mentioned
above. What a person from any of field can do .Lets discuss it:
1.
Student:
In addition to my regular and sincere study what I can do is that I with my
friends can organize some awareness generating program among the unaware and
uneducated people. I should be in touch with information of the things
happening in the country as well across the globe and people aware of that. We
can also voluntarily work in different social programs that are organized in
the community. In leisure time we can volunteer
in teaching poor children in schools in remote (educationally lagging) villages
of the country.
2.
Teachers:
all those volunteering and awaring programs are on the one side and in addition
to those things teachers working
specially in government institutes should be sincere to their work.
He/she should take his/her class regularly. He should be teaching his students
without any anger or onesided view.
3.
Business
and the others: As all of these people have normal work to do which can be more
or less difficult, the work must be
sincerely performed .The smell of honesty in the works is compulsory.
4.
Politicians: These people are the representatives ,the
leaders .Though there is no limit of
their task to be performed they must sincerely govern the works going on in the
country. The constitution which is under construction in the present context
must be written efficiently and with a great speed as far as possible.
Though there
are numbers of obstacles and the challenges on the way , the warriors of the
mighty Himalayas must not give up until the land is counted among the most
developed.
